Less plastic waste
means a cleaner sea.

Plastic poses a huge threat to the environment, and especially to the sea, where the large quantities of this waste affect marine flora and fauna to the point of irreversibly damaging entire ecosystems.

This is why, in keeping with European legislation due to come into force in 2021, Diagonal Mar believes that reducing the consumption of single-use plastics is absolutely essential. As a result, we are now working to minimise the use of plastic bags, which 75% of our stores had already done away with in 2018, replacing them with paper bags or other more sustainable solutions. Even so, we know this is still not enough, meaning our challenge is to ensure 85% of our stores are plastic bag-free by 2019.

We are also working to reduce plastic straws in our restaurants.

Our sea deserves it.
