Vapiano opens in the Diagonal Mar shopping centre. After several years of planning their breakthrough into the Spanish market, the German restaurant chain has chosen Diagonal Mar as the home of their first restaurant in Spain. CBRE real estate consultancy advised on this project.

The 1,100 m 2 restaurant is situated at the main entrance to Diagonal Mar shopping centre, an iconic location that is currently undergoing a refurbishment and modernisation project to
improve its facilities and to adapt to new consumer trends. The brand’s first restaurant in Spain, where the company plans to expand, will create fifty jobs.

Vapiano, with the philosophy “Chi va piano va sano e va lontano“ (If you have an easy-going and relaxed approach to life, you’ll live more healthily and longer), devised Fresh Casual Dining in 2002, an innovative concept in the hospitality sector that combines fresh, personalised food and digital ordering in a relaxed and cosmopolitan environment.

Diagonal Mar centre, the chain’s chosen location for its launch in Spain, is currently undergoing a refurbishment and modernisation project to adapt to new consumer needs that is set to finish in 2018. “Diagonal Mar has opted for a high-quality dining concept that’s unique in Spain. Vapiano’s arrival at Diagonal Mar is a milestone in the shopping centre’s current transformation”, says Isabel Bofill, director of Diagonal Mar shopping centre.

In all Vapiano restaurants worldwide, all the dishes–pasta, pizza, sauces, antipasti and desserts–are prepared using fresh produce in an open kitchen, where customers can personalise their dishes. The restaurant, which is designed by the architect and interior designer Matteo Thun, boasts an ancient olive tree and creates a space with a Mediterranean and cosmopolitan feel.
