Diagonal Mar Park

The “Parque de la Diagonal Mar”, designed by a married couple, Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, is right beside the Diagonal Mar shopping centre. This ambitious contemporary work is an enormous, sunny area, which symbolises how new Barcelona intends to be a pioneering, original city with sustainable architecture.

This park, the second largest in Barcelona, is designed to mingle with the city. It is an extensive, diaphanous space, which meets the sea at the end. It spreads out around a series of paths that branch out in all directions and long concrete benches that resemble the waves of the sea.
